Gooseberry is very rich in Vitamin C and contains many minerals and vitamins like Calcium, Iron etc. They are rich in fiber and a powerful antioxidant agent. They also help to keep the body cool in summer. So, sharing an easy recipe to use this wonder fruit.
Yum
Ingredients:
Plain yogurt/dahi – 2 cups
Gooseberry/Amla/nellikai – 4
Fresh grated coconut – 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
White lentil/urad dal – 1 tsp
Asafoetida – a pinch
Green chilies – 1
Red chili – 1
Sesame Oil – 1 tsp
Few Curry leaves
Method:
1) Add chopped gooseberries, grated coconut, green chili in your grinder and grind it to make a smooth paste by adding little water.
2) Beat the yogurt nicely and add gooseberry mix and salt to taste and mix it well.
4) Add sesame oil in a small frying pan and when its warm add mustard seeds and a pinch of asafoetida.
5) When mustard seeds crackle, add white lentil, red chili, few curry leaves and saute for few seconds. Add this to the pachadi and serve.
