Isn’t simply being alive worth celebrating too? So today, I celebrated life with Suji ka halwa. I went into the kitchen, opened my little dabba of suji, and decided to make the simplest dessert that always brings comfort. I heated a bit of ghee, the aroma filled the kitchen instantly, and in that moment I realised that small joys don’t need grand reasons.

Suji slowly roasted to golden brown, I added water, sugar, cardamom and it all came together like a soft warm hug in a bowl. Within 10 minutes suji halwa was ready. This dessert is usually made for festivals like Navratri, Deepawali or even new year.

Suji Halwa Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup suji/rava/semolina
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup ghee
- 1 tsp Green Cardamom
- 2 cups water
- 10 raisins
- 10 cashews
Instructions

Heat a pan with ghee.

Add raisins and cashews and stir fry till golden.

Lower the flame and suji. Stir well till it combines.

Add 2 cups on hot water and combine.

Add 3/4 up of sugar and keep stirring till it combines.

Add cardamom powder and mix well. You can serve it warm.
Recipe Notes
- Adjust sugar according to your taste. You can add 1/2 cup if you like low sugar desserts.
- You can add almonds and saffron too.
