Rava Ladoo
Ingredients
- Rava / Semolina / Sooji - 1 cup
- Sugar - 1 cup (powdered)
- Ghee / clarified butter - 1/3 cup + 1 tsp
- Green Cardamom - 2 (powdered)
- 8 Cashew nuts (broken)
- 8 Raisins
Instructions
-
Heat 1 tsp of ghee in a pan and roast cashew nuts and raisins on low flame till cashews turn light brown Keep it aside in a bowl.
-
Now roast the semolina on low flame in the same pan till it starts leaving a nice aroma. Keep stirring as semolina will get burnt easily. It will take 7-8 minutes. Transfer it into a plate.
-
Heat 1/3 cup cup ghee in the pan now. Once it is hot and melted, remove from the flame.
-
Add powdered sugar, cardamom powder and roasted semolina into the pan.
-
Add roasted cashews and raisins and mix it well.
-
Mix it well with the spatula.
-
When its warm itself start making small balls of the mix and keep it aside. Once it completely cools down, store it in an air-tight container.

Thank you for sharing this recipe. We used to live down the road from an Indian family who would make all sorts of delicious recipes. I was very good friends with their son, and was invited over for dinner or sent leftovers and treats from parties on a regular basis. It made me really appreciate the dishes from the culture, and I've often tried making them myself. I've never been able to make them as well as my friend's mum, and never expect to but it is lovely to at least get a taste of them again.
