Pongal is one of the most popular four day long harvest festival celebrated in Tamil Nadu. Any festival is incomplete without a feast. So, here’s a lunch which I prepared for Pongal festival.
We usually prepare a heavy lunch for Thai Pongal. I love celebrating festivals in a rich way as it brings positive vibes for the house. The house looks bright and colorful and smells awesome with all the goodies. So, the Pongal lunch menu included sakkarai pongal, thengai Poli, vada, carrot sambar, tomato rasam, potato roast, curd rice, plain rice and jackfruit appalam (papad).
Click the names in the list below for the recipes:
- Sakkarai Pongal
- Ulundu vada/ Medhu Vada
- Thengai Poli
- Carrot Sambar
- Thakkali Rasam
- Potato roast
- Curd Rice
You can set the curd previous day itself to prepare curd rice. To prepare curd at home – Boil 1 liter milk in a pan. Let it cool down till it is warm. The milk should be warm but not very hot. Add 2 tsp of curd and mix well. Keep it covered for 5-6 hours or till the curd has set. I usually set the curd overnight.
So, celebrate festivals to bring happiness around.. Wish you all a happy Pongal and Happy Sankranti.
