I love Gujarati food and Dhokla is one of my favorites. I’m sure you also love those soft, spongy dhoklas for snacking. I’m sharing a quick way to make Khaman Dhokla and you will just love the outcome. The best part is that it gets cooked in Three minutes in microwave!
I found this recipe on Gobble and instantly tried it. I have tweaked the recipe a bit. Do give it a try and I’m sure you all will love it too! Make this Mug Khaman Dhokla for tea time snacking and serve it with Sweet Tamarind chutney. You can also serve it with mint coriander chutney. Try making it too and share the feedback.
Mug Khaman Dhokla
- 1 cup Besan/chickpeas flour
- 1/2 tsp ginger grated
- 1 tsp Green chillies finely chopped
- 1/4 tsp hing/asafoetida powder
- 4 tsp Sugar
- 1/2 cup Curd
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1+1/2 tsp Fruit Salt
- 4 tbsp Vegetable Oil
- 1 Sprig curry leaves
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)
Combine the besan, asafoetida, green chillies, 2 tsp sugar, ginger, curds, 2 tbsp oil, salt and ½ cup of water in a deep bowl. Whisk it well to make a flowing batter.
Add the fruit salt now and 1 tbsp of water and mix gently.
Pour the batter in 2 mugs. Fill the 3/4th mug.
Place the 2 mugs at the same time in the microwave and microwave on high for 3 ½ minutes. Do not open the microwave even if you feel it can overflow and use the batter immediately after adding fruit salt.
Heat a frying pan and add 2 tbsp of oil in a small non-stick pan, add the mustard seeds and Let it crackle. Now add curry leaves and saute.
Add chilli powder, 2 tsp of sugar and ¼ cup of water and mix it well.
Add this tempering in the cooked dhokla in equal ratio.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
