Kanda bhaji is a specialty of Maharashtra, India where Kanda means onions and bhaji means fritters. They are crunchy tea time snacks deep fried in cooking oil. I’m enjoying them with my cup of tea and hope you all have a wonderful day!!

Ingredients
- Besan/Gram Flour – 1/2 cup
- Rice Flour – 2 tbsp
- Baking Soda – a pinch
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
- Finely chopped Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
- Onion – 3/4 cup (peeled and thinly sliced)
- Cabbage – 1/4 cup (thinly sliced)
- Red Chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Cooking oil for deep frying – 1 cup
Instructions
- Add sliced onion, cabbage salt to taste, gram flour, rice flour, red chilly powder, baking soda and coriander leaves and mix it well with your hands to make a thick batter. Add water if only required.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium flame.
- Drop small portions of the batter using a spoon and fry till golden brown.
- Remove from the pan and drain the excess oil and serve it hot.
Notes
Make sure to check if oil is ready. You can check by dropping a small ball of the dough in the hot oil and if it immediately comes on top, oil is ready.[br]I’ve added cabbage also in these fritters but its purely optional.
