I love Gulab Jamuns specially with a combination of ice-cream. Gulab Jamuns are something we all Indians love as a dessert especially when its soft and juicy and each bite just melts in your mouth….Gulab Jamuns are usually made with khoya or cottage cheese but I chose to make it the easy way with some milk powder which I learnt from my mom. I had always been thinking that my mom makes it with khoya and I have to say that she makes everything in such precision. I really wish I could learn that art from her.

Gulab Jamun
Ingredients
- Milk powder - 6 tbsp
- Maida / all purpose floor - 1/4 cup
- Baking powder - 1/4 tsp
- Full cream Milk - 4-5 tbsp
- Green cardamom - 2 (powdered)
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Pistachios - 6 (crushed)
- Lemon juice - 1/2 tsp
- Vegetable oil for deep frying
Instructions
-
Add sugar, cardamom powder and 1 cups of water in pan and boil it. Keep stirring for few minutes and remove from flame. No need for string consistency. Add lemon juice and keep this sugar syrup ready.
-
Sift milk powder, maida and baking powder together in a mixing bowl. Now milk and combine to form a sticky soft dough.
-
Make smooth, equal size balls from this dough.
-
Heat oil in frying pan and keep it on low flame. Add few balls at a time and deep fry till golden brown in colour. Drain excess oil and drop into the sugar syrup.
-
Heat the sugar syrup once and soak for 2 hours before serving. Serve it warm garnished with crushed pistachios or you can even serve it with some ice-cream.
