Clean and soak Urad dal in water for 3 hours. Drain the water and keep it aside.

Add urad dal, ginger, few curry leaves and grind it to make a smooth paste. Add very little water to grind and then transfer the batter into a bowl.

Add salt to taste, rice flour, black pepper corn and green chilies and mix it well.

Heat oil in a frying pan. When oil is warm, lower the flame.

Wet your hands and take a small portion of batter in your hand. Drop it into the oil carefully. You can also use a spoon to drop the batter into the warm oil.

Deep fry in oil on low to medium flame till it turns golden brown.

Serve it hot with some coconut chutney.
