Mysore bonda is a scrumptious snack mainly with white lentil. This is a popular dish of Mysore, Karnataka and usually served as an evening snack with some coconut chutney. Mysore Bonda / Ulundu Bonda
- Urad dal / White lentil - 1 cup
- Rice Flour - 1 tbsp
- Chopped green chillies - 1 tbsp
- Black pepper corn - 1 tbsp
- Ginger - 1 tbsp chopped
- Curry leaves - 1 sprig
- Salt to taste
- Asafoetida/hing - 1/4 tsp
- Vegetable Oil for deep frying
Clean and soak Urad dal in water for 3 hours. Drain the water and keep it aside.
Add urad dal, ginger, few curry leaves and grind it to make a smooth paste. Add very little water to grind and then transfer the batter into a bowl.
Add salt to taste, rice flour, black pepper corn and green chilies and mix it well.
Heat oil in a frying pan. When oil is warm, lower the flame.
Wet your hands and take a small portion of batter in your hand. Drop it into the oil carefully. You can also use a spoon to drop the batter into the warm oil.
Deep fry in oil on low to medium flame till it turns golden brown.
Serve it hot with some coconut chutney.
