Khara Maida Biscuits

  • Maida / all purpose flour - 1 cup
  • Sooji/Semolina - 2 tbsp
  • Melted Butter - 2 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds/Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Vegetable Oil for deep frying


  1. Add semolina, all purpose flour, red chilli powder, cumin seeds, salt in a mixing bowl and mix it well. Now add the butter and mix it well. The texture will be crumbly.

  2. Add water little by little and knead to a soft dough.

  3. Dust the platform with dry flour. Place the dough and using rolling pin, roll out the dough. Cut into diamond shapes using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.

  4. Heat oil for deep frying. Gently lift the diamond pieces and add to the hot oil. Fry on a medium flame until golden brown.

  5. Drain the excess oil and store it in an airtight container.

Recipe Notes

You can also add sesame seeds in place of Cumin seeds.
