Bread Gulab Jamun

  • 6 Bread slices
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 6 tbsp Full cream milk
  • 1 tsp rose essence
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • Idhayam Mantra groundnut oil for deep frying


  1. Remove sides of bread. break it and add it in your food processor to powder it.

  2. Add this powder in a mixing bowl. Now milk and combine to form a soft dough. Set it aside for 10 minutes.

  3. Add sugar and 1 cup of water in pan and boil it. Keep stirring for few minutes and remove from flame. No need for string consistency. Add lemon juice, rose essence and keep this sugar syrup ready.

  4. Make smooth and equal size balls from the dough. Make sure there are no cracks.

  5. Heat oil in frying pan. Once oil is hot enough, reduce the flame. Add few balls at a time and deep fry till golden brown in colour. Drain excess oil and drop into the sugar syrup.

  6. Heat the sugar syrup again for a minute. Soak for minimum 2 hours before serving.
