I recently visited Wayanad, Kerala and bought few amazing herbs and spices from there. Kerala is known for its exotic spices and they are widely used in Ayurvedic treatments. I found this interesting spice known as Pathimugam which is known as Sappan wood or Indian red wood in English. It is the slivering of Sappan wood which is used as spice. People in Kerala simply add this spice in water, boil it and drink it whole day. They call it Ayurvedic water. They believe that decoction of this wood can help in curing diarrhea, skin infections etc. It acts as a detox if consumed regularly. So, I decided to use this in making a Sappan wood herbal green tea.
The herbal tea turned out to be so comforting and soothing. Sappan wood added a raw flavor and beautiful colour. I’m a tea lover and green tea is definitely more healthy.
