Masala Chaas Recipe

Spiced buttermilk or Masala Chaas is refreshing drink especially beneficial for summer. Traditionally buttermilk is the liquid which is leftover after churning butter from cream. This drink is usually consumed after a heavy meal as the asafoetida and ginger in it helps in digestion.

 Chaas can be easily made at home with some yogurt and other easily available ingredients. It is a perfect summer drink and you will love the subtle blend of spices and herb with yogurt. So, sharing the masala chaas recipe today and enjoy this drink for summer to beat the heat!

Masala Chaas

A refreshing summer drink which you can enjoy to beat the heat!

Prep Time 10 minutes
Servings 4

Ingredients

  • curd/dahi - 1 glass
  • Water - 3 glasses
  • Grated ginger - 1 tsp
  • 1 green chilli (finely chopped)
  • Asafoetida/hing - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp roasted and powdered
  • Mint leaves - 8-10

Instructions

  1. Add green chillies, ginger, mint leaves in your blender and blitz it into a smooth paste.

  2. Now add curd, water, salt to taste, asafoetida and blend it.

  3. Refrigerate and serve chilled. Sprinkle some roasted cumin seeds powder before serving.

Recipe Notes

You can add more curd to make it thicker.
